Chris Sun concludes Hangzhou visit

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun today concluded his three-day visit to Hangzhou, where he exchanged experiences in talent policies and community care with local authorities and organisations.

 

He began his visit on Tuesday by meeting Zhejiang University Vice President Prof Zhou Jianghong, together with Hong Kong Talent Engage Director Anthony Lau.

 

Mr Sun then toured the university with mentees of the Strive & Rise Programme to learn more about the campus and facilities, as well as interacted with the mentees.

 

Yesterday morning, the labour chief toured the National Innovation & Entrepreneurship Base for High-level Overseas Talents, accompanied by Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office of the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government Deputy Director Xu Junmin.

 

Mr Sun learnt about the local work on attracting high-level talent and its effectiveness there.

 

During a visit to an enterprise in Hangzhou, Mr Sun gained a deeper understanding of the implementation of local talent policies and their roles for enterprises from its senior management.

 

He then called on CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee Standing Committee Member and Organization Department Chief Liu Pinjun, to discuss the talent policies of the two places and welcomed Mainland youths to develop their careers in Hong Kong via suitable talent admission schemes.

 

In the afternoon, he viewed an elderly care service centre to learn more about the local community care and support services.

 

Mr Sun then attended the closing dinner for the Strive & Rise Programme's Hangzhou study tour.

 

Apart from thanking the Hangzhou Municipal Government for its full support for the tour and the Hong Kong Jockey Club for sponsoring the tour, he also wished the mentees would set goals for their future while being inspired by the visits and expanding their horizons.

 

Today, the labour chief called on Zhejiang Province Human Resources & Social Security Department Director-General Wu Weibin, to introduce Hong Kong's latest developments in labour, manpower and welfare policies.

 

Mr Sun then visited the Hangzhou City Planning Exhibition Hall for a better understanding of the planning and development of the city.

 

Before leaving Hangzhou, he met Hong Kong people working there to learn more about their daily lives and encourage them to promote Hong Kong's talent policies to local people.
