CS visits Hangzhou archives

Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki visited the Hangzhou National Archives of Publications & Culture today with mentees of the Strive & Rise Programme's Hangzhou study tour.

 

Mr Chan viewed the Chinese classics and cultural relics on display as well as exchanged views with the study tour's mentees and mentors.

 

He was pleased to learn that the mentees have enhanced their understanding of the country‘s history and culture, and strengthened their sense of national identity through visiting the archives.

 

Mr Chan also met Hangzhou Political Consultative Congress Chairman Ma Weiguang, Ningbo Political Consultative Congress Chairman Chen Long, Shaoxing Political Consultative Congress Chairman Wei Wei and Hong Kong Hangzhou Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Friendship Association President Hu Huikang.

 

They exchanged views on the latest developments in Hong Kong and various cities in Zhejiang.

 

Mr Chan also toured a local startup to learn about the latest developments of its non-invasive brain-computer interface technology. He encouraged Zhejiang startups to foster co-operation in innovation and technology as well as make use of Hong Kong’s various advantages to expand overseas through establishing a base in the city.

 

He then attended a gathering organised by the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Zhejiang, where he met Hong Kong people and representatives of Hong Kong enterprises in Zhejiang to learn about their latest developments in the province.

 

Afterwards, the Chief Secretary met Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government Vice Governor Lu Shan to discuss deepening co-operation between Zhejiang and Hong Kong.

 

Mr Chan pointed out that the co-operation agreement signed last year has laid a more solid foundation for promoting complementarity and mutual benefits, and achieving the high-quality development of the two places.
