Dance drama tickets available
The Chinese Culture Festival will present two performances of the Ningbo Performance & Arts Group’s award-winning dance drama Mulan, in mid-September.
Mulan reframes the story of the legendary heroine Hua Mulan, fusing elements of dance, martial arts and theatre together with exquisite modern stage technology.
It consists of 21 scenes, including the delicate “Serenade” and “Brass Mirror”, and the grandiose “To the Battlefield” and “The Last Battle”.
Since its premiere in 2017, Mulan has been performed over 100 times in the Mainland, winning the 11th China Dance Lotus Award for Dance Drama and the Orchid Award at the 14th Zhejiang Provincial Drama Festival. It was staged at the 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival and the 50th Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico.
The production toured the US to critical acclaim last year.
Mulan will be held at 7.30pm on September 14 and at 2.30pm on September 15 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Tickets are available via URBTIX and the Xiqu Centre Ticket Office in West Kowloon Cultural District. Call 3166 1288 for telephone bookings.
An open rehearsal of the show will be held at 2.15pm on September 13 at the Cultural Centre’s Grand Theatre. Primary and secondary students have been invited to attend for free.
