Sport For All Day 2024 held
Chief Executive John Lee today attended Sport For All Day 2024 at Tung Cheong Street Sports Centre in Tai Po to promote the health benefits of regular exercise and show support for the national team and Hong Kong athletes participating in the Paris Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
This year’s Sport For All Day was themed “Parent-child Exercise for Fun & Fitness”. It involved holding parent-child fitness activities at designated venues to encourage families to build up their physical fitness while enhancing cohesion and relationships among members.
During the event, guests were witness to parent-child fitness activities, e-racing for kids, electronic virtual dodge games, a kabaddi demonstration, virtual cross-harbour swimming and, parent-child 3-on-3 basketball. Mr Lee also visited the Festival of Sport booth set up by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.
Meanwhile, 17 principal officials marked Sport For All Day 2024 by attending recreation and sports activities held at other sports centres around the city.
Separately, over 10 organisations held free recreation and sports programmes for the public, or opened up their facilities for free use.
The Leisure & Cultural Services Department organises Sports For All Day in August every year. On the day of each event, most of the department’s fee-charging facilities are available for free use by citizens, and various free recreation and sports programmes are offered for public participation.
A webcast of sports demonstrations is available via the event’s dedicated website and the LCSD Plusss Facebook page.
