Immigration HQ officially relocates

August 3, 2024

Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki today officiated at the opening ceremony of the new Immigration Headquarters on 61 Po Yap Road in Tseung Kwan O.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Chan recalled that during his tenure as Director of Immigration, he had in-depth discussions with Immigration Department colleagues and Government Property Agency officers before finally deciding to build a new headquarters in Tseung Kwan O. He said the new building, located near the Tseung Kwan O and Tiu Keng Leng MTR stations and easily accessible by various modes of public transport, will bring convenience to the public in using the department's services.

Mr Chan explained that relocating the headquarters was no easy task, as every part of the project involved paying meticulous attention to detail to ensure that the department's services and operations would not be affected.

He commended all colleagues at the department for their efforts in ensuring the new headquarters had commenced operation without hiccups.

The Chief Secretary also highlighted that the department's responsibilities and services are ever increasing, adding that he hopes that it will continue to uphold four principles in its work, namely to steadfastly strengthen the defence of national security, to zealously innovate and seek breakthroughs, to vigorously promote the economic development of Hong Kong, and to proactively integrate into national development.

At today’s event, Director of Immigration Benson Kwok thanked the Chief Secretary and the assembled guests for witnessing an historical moment for the department.

He said the new headquarters, consisting of an Administration Tower and an Enforcement Tower, represents the department's equal emphasis on service provision and law enforcement, and symbolises its commitment to serving the public and maintaining the stability and prosperity of the country and Hong Kong.
