Voter registers released
The 2024 provisional registers of voters and lists of omissions for geographical constituencies (GCs), functional constituencies (FCs) and Election Committee subsectors (ECSSs) were released today.
The Registration & Electoral Office (REO) appealed to the public to check their registration status and particulars through "iAM Smart", the voter registration website or inquire via the REO hotline at 2891 1001. They should contact the REO with any inquiries by August 25.
The 2024 provisional register for GCs contains about 4,207,500 registered electors. The REO has received about 18,900 new registration applications and some 138,000 applications from registered electors of GCs wishing to update their particulars.
Meanwhile, the electoral records of about 142,400 electors have been deleted due to being listed on the omissions list due to death or other reasons.
The 2024 provisional register for FCs contains about 197,700 registered electors, while the provisional register for ECSSs contains around 8,600 names.
Notices on the inspection of the provisional registers of voters and omissions lists were published in the Government Gazette today.
According to law, a copy of provisional registers and omissions lists containing entries relating to individuals may only be shown in accordance with the statutory requirements, and available for inspection by specified persons only.
However, a copy of provisional registers and omissions lists containing entries of corporate electors/voters may be inspected by any member of the public. Click here for details and arrangements regarding the inspection.
The final registers will be published on or before September 25.
The REO explained that because next year will be an election year, it will contact people who had registered before but lost their registration status for some reason, by email or phone, to invite them to re-register as electors.
