CE visits Cambodia
Chief Executive John Lee, leading a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region delegation, arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, as part of a six-day visit to three countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Upon arriving in the country's capital today, Mr Lee attended a luncheon hosted by Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Cambodia Wang Wenbin.
He expressed his gratitude for the embassy’s support for exchanges between Hong Kong and Cambodia, as well as its assistance to Hong Kong residents in the country. He also said that he looks forward to working closely with Mr Wang to strengthen the economic and trade relations between the Mainland, Hong Kong and Cambodia.
In the afternoon, the Chief Executive and the delegation visited a Cambodian enterprise to learn about the development of its businesses in financial services, construction and real estate development, infrastructure, hospitality, education and healthcare.
Noting that Hong Kong possesses advantages in capital, talent, technology and market resources as an international financial centre, Mr Lee made it clear that companies in Hong Kong and Cambodia can explore more co-operation opportunities to discover new prospects, and drive mutual prosperity and economic development.
In the evening, the delegation had dinner with local business leaders to promote Hong Kong’s latest developments and advantages.
On day two of his visit in Cambodia tomorrow, Mr Lee plans to meet local officials and businessmen before departing for Vietnam in the afternoon.
