Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung, as part of his visit to France, watched competitions that athletes of the Hong Kong, China Delegation participated in and cheered for them at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Mr Yeung watched Hong Kong athletes competing in the Table Tennis Women's Singles and Mixed Doubles events, and showed support to Hong Kong swimming athletes at the aquatic facility yesterday. He plans to watch fencing and swimming events later today.

Mr Yeung said: "The presence of Hong Kong athletes at the Olympics never comes about by chance. It is a recognition of their ability and perseverance. Our athletes have deserved praise for their fighting spirit.”

He noted that while several athletes are first-time competitors, some others have competed once or more in the Olympics already. He added that what they share in common are good sportsmanship and the pursuit of excellence.

“They make us proud. The co-operation among their coaches and support teams, the support from the Hong Kong Sports Institute, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and national sports associations, as well as the encouragement and trust of their families are important.

“We will continue to give our full support to Hong Kong athletes and their teams to achieve good results in the Paris Olympic Games."
