HK-Guangdong conference held

Chief Executive John Lee and Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong co-chaired the 24th Plenary of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference in Guangzhou today.
 
The governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong signed several pacts covering exchanges and co-operation in food safety, sustainable development of agriculture, the Elderly Health Care Voucher Greater Bay Area Pilot Scheme and related policy studies as well as an agreement on the exemption of Hong Kong Residents from participation in Basic Pension Insurance.
 
The meeting touched on the steady progress both governments have made in various co-operation areas such as innovation and technology, the Northern Metropolis, financial services, cross-boundary transport and logistics, joint pursuit of the "dual carbon" goal, healthcare, etc.
 
Mr Lee said that Hong Kong and Guangdong have a multi-disciplinary, in-depth and all-round co-operation relationship, noting that communication and exchanges between the two sides have become closer, exchange visits at different levels have become more frequent, and fruitful progress in various policy measures to strengthen inter-connectivity in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) has been achieved in the past year.
 
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will maintain close liaison with the Guangdong Provincial Government, and under the spirit of complementarity and mutual benefits, deepen the bilateral co-operation and work hand in hand to promote high-level collaboration in and high-quality development of the GBA, he added.
 
The Chief Executive also met CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee Secretary Huang Kunming in Guangzhou.
