Acting Secretary for Housing Victor Tai (second left) visits Light Public Housing mock-up units at Choi Hing Road, Ngau Tau Kok with a group of citizens.

Acting Secretary for Housing Victor Tai said there has been an overwhelming response to Light Public Housing (LPH), with around 5,800 applications received as at 3pm today. The application period began on June 24.

Mr Tai, along with District Service Teams, visited LPH mock-up units at Choi Hing Road, Ngau Tau Kok this afternoon together with a group of about 60 citizens interested in LPH.

The citizens saw for themselves the design and basic facilities of the units as well as gained an understanding of the ancillary facilities to be provided within the project.

Representatives of the Housing Bureau and members of the service teams also answered questions about LPH applications on the spot.

Mr Tai encouraged eligible members of the public living in inadequate housing to apply for LPH to give themselves and their families a chance to improve their living environment.

He pointed out that the LPH environment and ancillary facilities are far better than those of inadequate housing, adding that the first two LPH projects have their respective advantages and offer an affordable rental level.

LPH mainly caters for general applicants waiting for traditional public rental housing for three years or more, with priority given to family applicants to meet their pressing housing needs.

The LPH Phase 1 application includes two projects at Yau Pok Road, Yuen Long, and Choi Hing Road, Ngau Tau Kok, providing a total of about 4,440 units for gradual intake anticipated from the first quarter of 2025 onwards.
