Regarding a claim on an online platform about the sale of citizens’ data obtained from the Home Affairs Department’s system, the department said it immediately conducted an investigation which found no sign of intrusion into the system, and no evidence of data stolen or leaked.

Additionally, it informed the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer about the case, and made a report to Police’s Cyber Security & Technology Crime Bureau.

Stressing that it condemns all forms of cybercrime and the spreading of rumours on the Internet, the department added that it will fully co-operate with investigations by law enforcement agencies.
