The Heritage Museum will stage an exhibition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of renowned martial arts novelist Louis Cha better known as Jin Yong, from tomorrow to October 7, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department announced today.
The free exhibition "A Path to Glory - Jin Yong’s Centennial Memorial, Sculpted by Ren Zhe" features a tribute by sculptor Ren Zhe, who brings 22 of Jin Yong's characters to life in unique representations infused with visionary creativity.
Characters such as Guo Jing, Huang Rong, Yang Guo and Xiaolongnu come to life under Ren Zhe’s unique sculptural techniques and exquisite craftsmanship.
To immerse visitors in Jin Yong's imaginary world of martial arts, the exhibition is also set alongside multimedia installations created by Hong Kong Film Award-winning media artist Victor Wong and his team.
Supported by Mr Cha’s family and Ming Ho Publications Corporation, it is the first authorised sculpture exhibition showcasing Jin Yong's classic martial arts characters. A bust of Mr Cha donated by his family will also be on display at the museum's Jin Yong Gallery.
In addition, the department is holding a series of activities to pay tribute to the heavyweight novelist.
