Labour Dept job services adjusted

March 13, 2024

The Labour Department today announced that from April 2 its Telephone Employment Service Centre will introduce a voicemail service and some of its job centres will be merged for more effective utilisation of public resources.

Following the introduction of a voicemail service by the Telephone Employment Service Centre, the public can leave messages or request services by calling the hotlines for job seekers (2969 0888) or employers (2503 3377) outside of office hours and following the instructions provided.

Staff of the department will follow up and respond within the following working day.

Additionally, the service hours of the department’s job centres and industry-based recruitment centres will be extended to 9am to 6.15pm from the current 9am to 5.30pm, from Monday to Friday. The centres will be closed on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

The Hong Kong West Job Centre on Hong Kong Island and the Tai Po Job Centre in New Territories East will merge with job centres in nearby districts. Click here for the addresses and service hours of the job centres.

The department said the decision to adjust and enhance its employment services was made because of the increasing popularity of online employment services among the general public.

It added that with the goal of enhancing service efficiency, the department will continue to review its services and strengthen them in light of service needs and the market situation.
