Senior appointments announced

The Government today announced the appointments of Director of Highways, Director of Water Supplies and Director of Electrical & Mechanical Services.

 

Director of Water Supplies Tony Yau will assume the post of Director of Highways on March 22, succeeding Chan Pai-ming who will commence pre-retirement leave.

 

Principal Government Engineer Roger Wong will succeed Mr Yau as Director of Water Supplies on March 22.

 

Deputy Director of Electrical & Mechanical Services Poon Kwok-ying will become the director on March 31, succeeding Pang Yiu-hung who will commence pre-retirement leave.

 

Meanwhile, former Director of Marine Carol Yuen proceeded on pre-retirement leave on March 2. Deputy Director of Marine Wong Sai-fat is acting as the director.

 

Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung said the newly-appointed directors of the three departments have proven leadership and management skills as well as profound professional knowledge.

 

“I am confident they will be able to lead the respective departments to meet the challenges ahead and deliver quality services to the community."

 

On the retirement of Mr Chan, Mr Pang and Ms Yuen, the civil service chief noted that while Mr Chan and Mr Pang had served in the civil service with professionalism and dedication for more than 30 years, Ms Yuen had rendered over 37 years of loyal and dedicated service.

 

During her tenure as Director of Marine, Ms Yuen led the department in the implementation of various new initiatives and played an instrumental role in formulating the Action Plan on Maritime & Port Development Strategy, she added.

 

Mrs Yeung wished the three of them a fulfilling and happy retirement.
