Chris Sun concludes Fujian visit
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun today called on the provincial government departments of Fujian responsible for human resources and civil affairs as part of his visit to Fuzhou.
Mr Sun paid a courtesy call on Deputy Director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Human Resources & Social Security Hong Changchun for an exchange of views on endeavours to attract and support outside talent.
He outlined the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s policy initiatives in the area, sharing that the Hong Kong Talent Engage will stage the Global Talent Summit & Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area High-quality Talent Development Conference in May.
The event aims to promote Hong Kong’s advantages as an international talent hub and enable the flow of talent between the cities of the bay area, he added.
The labour chief then called on Deputy Director General of the Fujian Provincial Department of Civil Affairs Ouyang Xiaobo to learn more about the planning of elderly services in the province and explore ways of coping with challenges in providing long-term care services for an ageing population.
He said the Hong Kong SAR Government has implemented portable cash assistance measures, including Comprehensive Social Security Assistance, as well as the Old Age Allowance and Old Age Living Allowance, under the Social Security Allowance Scheme.
As of the end of January, about 25,500 and 2,500 Hong Kong seniors residing in Guangdong and Fujian provinces, respectively, have benefitted from the relevant measures.
Prior to his return to Hong Kong, Mr Sun called on Party Secretary and Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office and Director General of the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province Li Lin to update him on developments in relation to the city’s labour, manpower and welfare policies.
