3 sports events get ‘M’ Mark status

March 1, 2024

The Major Sports Events Committee today announced that it has awarded “M” Mark status to three major international sports events due to be held in March.

The LIV Golf Hong Kong 2024 will take place from March 8 to 10, while the 2024 Tissot UCI Track Nations Cup - Hong Kong, China is scheduled for March 15 to 17. The third event, the 2024 World Triathlon Cup - Hong Kong, will be held on March 23 and 24.

Major Sports Events Committee Chairman Wilfred Ng said the “M” Mark recognition for such events signifies that they meet the Committee's criteria for large-scale international sports events, adding that these competitions are significant not only to the sports sector, but also the entire Hong Kong.

He also pointed out that the three events will add colour and vibrancy to Hong Kong, attract more visitors from abroad, and showcase the city’s capabilities in hosting world-class events, enhancing its position as a centre for major international sports events.

“I hope that these events will be held successfully and provide an unforgettable experience for all those involved, allowing them to experience the city's charm as an events capital," Mr Ng added.

The “M” Mark system aims to encourage and help local and national sports associations, as well as private and non-governmental organisations, to organise more international sports events and grow them into sustainable initiatives.
