Chief Executive John Lee today urged citizens to cast their votes in the District Council Ordinary Election on December 10 and explained why such an election is important.

While meeting reporters ahead of this morning’s Executive Council meeting, apart from emphasising that District Council members will serve those who live in that district, Mr Lee stressed that the election will assist with improving district hygiene, the environment, traffic, and other aspects of public concern.

“It will help build the right facilities for the districts. It will facilitate the communication between the people of that district (and) the Government.

“I encourage everybody to vote.

“In each step of the process - the voting, the counting of votes and the conduct of the actual voting on the day - eventually the performance of the elected council members will count to show the quality of the election,” he added.
