Sports events given ‘M’ Mark status

November 16, 2023

The Major Sports Events Committee today announced that it has awarded “M” Mark status to three major international sports events due to be held in late November.

The Bank of China (Hong Kong) Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HK Section) Half Marathon 2023 will take place on November 19, while the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Hong Kong Masters 2023, a three-a-side basketball event, is scheduled for November 25 and 26. The TTI Milwaukee Hong Kong Squash Open 2023 will be held from November 27 to December 3.

Committee Chairman Wilfred Ng said the three events’ colour and vibrancy will help to attract more visitors from abroad to visit Hong Kong, and that they will showcase the city’s capabilities in hosting world-class events, enhancing its status as a venue for major international sporting occasions.

The “M” Mark system aims to encourage and help local and national sports associations, as well as private and non-governmental organisations, to organise more sports events and grow them into sustainable initiatives.
