CE visits Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong

November 15, 2023

Chief Executive John Lee paid a visit to Wong Tai Sin and Kwun Tong today to learn more about child care services at the district level and inspect the site of a smart and green mass transit system.

Mr Lee viewed an after school care centre for pre-primary children at Tsz Lok Estate in Wong Tai Sin, which is subsidised by the Social Welfare Department, to find out about its care services for parents who are unable to look after their young children during after-school hours due to work or other reasons.

He also visited a home-based child carer participating in the Neighbourhood Support Child Care Project to understand her daily life and that of the children under her care.

Mr Lee noted that the latest Policy Address introduced a series of measures to promote fertility, including the enhancement of support to families with newborns and working families in childbearing.

At Shun Lee Estate in Kwun Tong, Mr Lee inspected the alignment of the proposed smart and green mass transit system in East Kowloon, which is one of the projects introduced in the Policy Address to strengthen the transport network.

He then spoke to members of the public and shop tenants for an insight into their daily lives and business operations and introduced them to the new policy measures.

The Chief Executive also handed out promotional leaflets about the District Council Election to citizens and encouraged them to cast their votes on December 10.

Mr Lee said: “Making Hong Kong a better place for all is one of the policy objectives of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

“My team and I will continue to work tirelessly to address the needs of society and press ahead with the implementation of the policies proposed in the Policy Address, with a view to jointly creating a cohesive and caring community, with a vibrant economy where everyone can enjoy life.”

Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Alice Mak and Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun also joined the visit.
