Booking system to launch next month
The Leisure & Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today announced that SmartPLAY, its new intelligent booking and information system for sports and recreation services, will launch at 7am on November 9.
SmartPLAY replaces the Leisure Link Computerised Booking System, which will cease operation from November 6.
So far, over 200,000 people have registered as SmartPLAY users, including about 10,000 existing Leisure Link patrons. To give more people time to register for the new system, the LCSD has slightly adjusted the launch date of SmartPLAY.
The LCSD reminded the public, including existing Leisure Link patrons, that they must first register with the new system, and complete an identity authentication process, before using it to enrol in programmes and book leisure facilities.
Transfer of data between the old and new systems, report checking and online data verification, as well as re-inspections of all new system equipment, will take place from November 6 to 8, during which time registration for SmartPLAY will be suspended.
To ensure a smooth changeover, transitional arrangements will be implemented from late October to mid-November. The details are outlined in annexes 1, 2 and 3. Balloting arrangements for hard-surface ball courts will be announced at a later date.
Starting from November 1, arrangements for finding alternative facilities for individual users when those they have booked are not available for use will be cancelled. Users can apply for a refund through the existing mechanism, or the SmartPLAY system, if the booked facilities are unavailable.
The LCSD has installed 375 new Smart Self-service Stations at around 240 leisure venues, including District Leisure Services Offices. Members of the public can register, and complete identity authentication and account activation, at these stations.
Workshops organised by the department regarding SmartPLAY are also open for registration. Click here for details.
