National Day fireworks light up HK
A fireworks display lit up Victoria Harbour tonight to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Returning to the harbour for the first time in five years, a total of 31,888 firing shells were set off during the 23-minute extravaganza, conveying well wishes of prosperity for businesses and symbolising an even brighter future for the city.
The eight-scene show opened with red hearts and peonies bursting into the sky to wish everyone well, under the theme “Together on National Day with Jubilant Fireworks”.
The second scene “Hello Hong Kong, Happy Hong Kong” showcased happy faces and Bauhinia fireworks.
The sixth scene “Rooted in China, Advancing as One” featured red five-pointed stars accompanied by multicoloured flourishes.
The finale “Prospering Nation, Blessings for Hong Kong”, with fireworks resembling a crown and palm brocades along with alternating red and sparkling fireworks, represented the prosperity of the nation and blessings for Hong Kong.
The event is part of the Night Vibes Hong Kong campaign and was co-ordinated by the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau.
