E-platform for teachers launched

September 28, 2023

The Education Bureau (EDB) today launched the e-Platform for Registered Teacher Information to facilitate relevant Registered Teachers' (RTs) submissions of teacher registration-related information.

The information should be submitted to the EDB by November 24 for compiling and updating the Electronic Register for Registered Teachers.

According to the prevailing requirements, if there are any changes in a teacher's personal particulars, including their correspondence address and phone number, they should notify the EDB’s teacher registration team within one month.

RTs holding teaching positions in publicly funded schools, kindergartens, international schools and private schools offering a formal curriculum can submit teacher registration-related information to the bureau through schools or its e-Services Portal.

Relevant RTs - which include those not serving in the aforementioned schools and those serving in schools not having submitted relevant information through the school, and/or without access to the bureau’s e-Services Portal - can use the newly launched e-Platform to submit personal particulars to comply with the requirements.

If the RTs are employed by schools in the future, they can also access the EDB’s electronic services more conveniently.

To ensure the appointed teaching staff are fit and proper for employment, schools are required to seek the applicants’ consent and apply to the bureau to enquire about their registration status before confirming the appointments.

When the information collection process through the e-Platform for Registered Teacher Information is initially completed at the end of this year, the bureau will compile the Electronic Register for Registered Teachers according to information collected from the e-Platform, schools and the EDB e-Services Portal.

By then, when schools apply to the bureau to enquire about teacher registration information during an appointment process, the EDB will only conduct checks based on the electronic register.

The bureau urged relevant RTs to submit or update information through the e-Platform as early as possible, so that if they apply for teaching positions in the future, the schools can receive the EDB’s checking results faster, thereby making the recruitment process smoother.
