CS celebrates inclusion with children

Chief Secretary and Chairperson of the Commission on Children Chan Kwok-ki hosted around 40 primary school students at Victoria House this afternoon to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in a spirit of harmony and cultural inclusion.

Welcoming the youngsters at his official residence, Mr Chan said meeting people or encountering things from different cultural backgrounds, on campus or in daily life, offers children an opportunity to learn and to engage in mutual exchanges.

Through playing musical instruments, dancing, and making artworks, the students shared a range of cultural experiences together. 

Mr Chan chatted with the students and thanked them for their performances. They also made lanterns and enjoyed festive food together.

Today’s initiative was a stakeholder engagement event under the commission’s "Walk with Kids" thematic campaign, which aims to promote understanding, respect and inclusion among children from different cultural backgrounds.

Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki today held a "Walk with Kids" stakeholder engagement event, which involved hosting a visit from primary school students to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The event, moderated by non-official members of the Commission on Children, took harmony and cultural inclusion as its theme.

“Meeting people or coming across things from different cultural backgrounds, on campus or in daily life, is an opportunity for mutual learning and exchanges,” Mr Chan said. “Children can broaden their horizons and learn how to build an inclusive culture.”

The participating students engaged in various cultural activities such as playing musical instruments, making artworks and dancing. They also made lanterns and enjoyed festive food to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
