Famed Chinese orchestra to perform

September 14, 2023

The China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra will perform two concerts in Hong Kong next month as part of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department’s Great Music 2023 programme, the Government announced today.

Renowned both at home and abroad, the national-level orchestra will present a diverse repertoire for each concert when it revisits Hong Kong after an 18-year hiatus.

Under the baton of the orchestra’s artistic director and principal conductor Pang Kapang, the first concert will feature a number of distinguished soloists and perform some original and well-known pieces by the late legendary conductor and composer Peng Xiuwen.

In the second concert, guest conductor Chen Xieyang will join hands with three celebrated musicians and present works by contemporary composers from the Mainland.

The first concert will be held at 8pm on October 24 at the Cultural Centre, while the second one will take place at 8pm on October 25 at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets are available at URBTIX.

Additionally, a free pre-concert talk titled “The Audible Peng Xiuwen” will be held at 6.45pm on October 24 at the Cultural Centre where seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
