Extreme state to persist until midnight
The Government announced that the extreme conditions will continue until midnight as Hong Kong experiences extensive flooding triggered by torrential rain associated with remnants of Typhoon Haikui.
Public transportation has been severely disrupted and there is an extremely high risk of landslides, the Government added.
It again called on members of the public to stay indoors during the severe weather. Employers are reminded that all employees, other than essential staff, should not be required to report for duty at workplaces.
The Government pointed out that the work arrangement under extreme conditions is the same as that of a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8.
Apart from essential staff who have an agreement with their employers to be on duty at workplaces when the extreme conditions exist, employees are advised to stay where they currently are or at safe places, instead of heading to work.
In addition to stressing that it will continue to closely monitor the latest situation regarding the weather, roads and public transport services, the Government said it will announce the upcoming arrangements at 3pm.
Citizens, employers and employees should pay attention to the latest information.
