Meeting on HK-SZ tech park held
Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong and Shenzhen Vice Mayor Wang Shourui today co-chaired, in Hong Kong, the 10th meeting of the Joint Task Force on the Development of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park in the Loop.
Noting that a Development Plan for the Shenzhen Park part of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science & Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone was recently promulgated, Prof Sun stated that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is grateful for the support of the Central People’s Government and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government with regard to the development of the related Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation & Technology Co-operation Zone.
The zone, located on both sides of the Shenzhen River, is being developed under a vision of “one river, two banks” and “one zone, two parks.” The measures outlined in the development plan, which include ways of synergising innovation in both places, inject new impetus into collaboration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Prof Sun commented: “Such efforts include striving for the implementation of dedicated cross-boundary measures to promote the smooth flow of talent, materials, capital and information, enabling the co-operation zone to serve as the bridgehead for intensive innovation and technology (I&T) co-operation between the two places, and allowing Hong Kong to fully leverage its unique advantage.
“Hong Kong and Shenzhen will jointly promote the development of the co-operation zone and drive the high-quality I&T development of the Greater Bay Area, thereby building the zone into a world-class innovation platform.”
During today’s meeting, participants received a briefing on the progress of I&T co-operation between the two cities, and on the construction of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park.
The Civil Engineering & Development Department also reported on the progress of the construction of supporting infrastructure in the Loop, while Shenzhen officials gave an update on the Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Zone.
