Eastern tunnel set for HKeToll

August 24, 2023

To facilitate the implementation of the HKeToll service at the Eastern Harbour Tunnel from 5am on August 27, temporary traffic arrangements will be enforced in phases from 0.00am on the same day, the Transport Department said today.

Crossings in both directions, as well roads connecting to the tunnel, will be closed from 4am to 5am.

During the tunnel’s closure, overnight bus routes N619, N680 and N691 will be diverted, while departure times for the Hong Kong Island overnight green minibus route 61 service will be adjusted.

Separately, the department said that holders of tunnel toll tickets can still use these at Tate’s Cairn Tunnel and Aberdeen Tunnel, where the HKeToll has yet to be implemented.

Toll ticket holders can apply for a refund from this Sunday until June 30, 2024, at refund centres located at eight Government car parks.

As the Government plans to implement the HKeToll at all of its tolled tunnels this year, the department once again appealed to vehicle owners to install a vehicle tag, open an HKeToll account and set up automatic payment as soon as possible.

It also reminded vehicle owners to pay tolls within 14 business days of passing through any tunnel where the HKeToll has been implemented. Owners may call 3853 7333 or visit either of the HKeToll customer service centres for assistance.
