Scouts returning in groups

August 9, 2023

The Home & Youth Affairs Bureau today noted that members of the Scout Association of Hong Kong (SAHK) taking part in the World Scout Jamboree held at Saemangeum, South Korea, are returning to Hong Kong in groups.

The bureau is grateful to the relevant government departments and organisations, including the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Gwangju, for arranging transport for the members to the airport.

In response to the SAHK's decision to arrange for its members taking part in the event to come back to Hong Kong, the bureau immediately contacted the association, the Immigration Department and the relevant airline to allow them to return smoothly.

The bureau is keeping in contact with the SAHK as Typhoon Khanun is approaching Korea and the weather there is expected to deteriorate rapidly.

The association has implemented measures to ensure the safety of its members staying behind in Saemangeum to participate in the rest of the activities organised by the World Organization of the Scout Movement, it added.
