Govt to take golf site as scheduled

July 25, 2023

The Government will take back the 32 hectares of land in Fanling Golf Course on September 1 as scheduled, the Development Bureau said today.

The court earlier granted leave to the Hong Kong Golf Club’s application for a judicial review regarding Fanling Golf Course, and gave approval for the relevant environmental impact assessment to be put on hold.

The bureau noted the court’s decision would not affect the golf course land resumption.

As for the Town Planning Board’s recommendation of temporarily rezoning 9.5 hectares of proposed housing site in Fanling Golf Course from “Residential (Group A)” to “Undetermined”, citing legal advice, the bureau said the court’s decision will not affect the board gazetting the proposed rezoning amendment in early August and inviting further representations.
