8 wanted for NSL offences
Eight people who allegedly contravened the National Security Law and have absconded overseas are wanted after court approval was obtained for arrest warrants, Police’s National Security Department announced today.
The eight suspects comprise seven men – namely Kevin Yam, Yuan Gong-yi, Kwok Wing-hang, Hui Chi-fung, Mung Siu-tat, Lau Cho-dik and Law Kwun-chung – and one woman, Kwok Fung-yee. Police said all eight are alleged to have committed such offences as incitement to secession, subversion, incitement to subversion, and collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security.
Rewards of $1 million are being offered to those who can provide information on the suspects and their alleged violations.
In support of Police’s actions, the Government stressed that the fugitives should not have any delusions about being able to evade their legal liabilities by fleeing from the city, adding that they ultimately will have to face legal sanctions for their acts.
Meanwhile, expressing its full support for the force’s move to obtain the warrants, the Security Bureau stressed that together with law enforcement agencies it will strive to stop the absconders from continuing to conduct activities that endanger national security. It said methods could include cutting off proceeds from their crimes and other funding sources, as well as identifying their accomplices in Hong Kong and holding them accountable.
The public should be careful not to be abetted by the absconders and their accomplices to avoid bearing criminal responsibilities, the bureau added.
