Chris Sun promotes healthy families
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun and Commissioner of Police Siu Chak-yee today attended the Walk with Kids@Healthy Happy FUNday to encourage children and family members to build a healthy life through playing together.
About 70 participants from more than 20 families attended the event jointly held by the Commission on Children, Police and the Social Welfare Department.
They took part in ice-breaking, adventurous and experiential activities at the Junior Police Call Permanent Activity Centre & Integrated Youth Training Camp at Pat Heung to experience healthy living in an interactive and interesting manner.
Children and parents also participated in sharing sessions to talk about their everyday challenges and parents' experience of overcoming the difficulties of taking care of children with specific needs.
Parents were also encouraged to communicate more with their children as well as take care of their own needs.
As Commission Vice-chairperson, Mr Sun said the various adventurous and experiential activities designed on-site were both fun and inspiring, adding that he hoped children and parents could play more together on weekdays, enjoy some relaxation time and foster communication for better physical and mental health.
Noting that protecting children is a heavy responsibility, Mr Siu said the activities engaged families in playtime with children and encouraged the public and all sectors to work together to protect them.
