April 21, 2023

The delegation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Legislative Council led by Chief Executive John Lee arrived in Shenzhen to begin its Greater Bay Area visit.

Apart from enabling all sectors of Hong Kong society to learn about and participate in opportunities arising from the bay area’s development, Mr Lee said the four-day trip will help Hong Kong to integrate into the country’s overall development more proactively.

He shared his belief that the trip will also help enhance effective co-operation between Hong Kong and Mainland bay area cities.

This evening, the delegates enjoyed dinner hosted by CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee Secretary Meng Fanli and Shenzhen Municipal Government Mayor Qin Weizhong.

Deputy leader of the delegation and Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki said Mr Meng and Mr Qin talked about Shenzhen’s development in different areas, including its economic situation and advancements in innovation and technology.

“I think this is a very good opportunity for us to understand more about the achievements made by Shenzhen recently. Also, this is a very good opportunity for us to discuss this and have the discussion on a formal basis with the Shenzhen officials.”

While in Shenzhen, the Hong Kong delegation will learn about the coastal city's innovation and technology, transport, energy industry and youth entrepreneurship.

Their itinerary will also cover visits to innovation and technology companies and cultural and tourism facilities.
