Chief Executive John Lee (second right) holds an engagement session with over 100 Hong Kong members of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

Chief Executive John Lee held an engagement session with over 100 Hong Kong members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) today.

The members will attend the first session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee in Beijing this week.

Mr Lee held the engagement session to exchange views on Hong Kong's active integration into the national development, promoting the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and strengthening the development of innovation and technology locally and the work on youth.

He said the CPPCC National Committee Hong Kong members are leaders from various sectors and are familiar with matters of the country and Hong Kong, adding that they contribute to the advancement of the country and listen to the public’s views, playing a key role as a bridge of communication.

As the mask mandate was fully lifted today, Mr Lee pointed out that Hong Kong has resumed normalcy in full and will spare no effort in pursuing economic growth and development to bring benefits to society as a whole.

The Chief Executive added that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will continue to communicate closely with the CPPCC National Committee Hong Kong members and unite different sectors of the community, with a view to enhancing the power and value of “patriots administering Hong Kong”.

Mr Lee thanked those members who attended the session for providing constructive suggestions which enable Hong Kong to better leverage its unique advantages of enjoying the strong support of the motherland and being closely connected to the world under "one country, two systems" in building a more harmonious society.

Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang and Director of the Chief Executive's Office Carol Yip also attended the engagement session.
