Alice Mak continues visit in Singapore

Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Alice Mak continued her trip in Singapore today to learn about youth development and community network building.
 
She first visited the Singapore Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth and the National Youth Council in the morning. During one such meeting, Miss Mak and National Youth Council Chief Executive Officer David Chua exchanged views on promoting youth development in both places.
 
Apart from sharing with the attendees the latest information on Hong Kong’s youth development policies and measures, including the Youth Development Blueprint, she also welcomed Singaporean youth to visit Hong Kong for overseas exchanges.
 
After attending a welcome luncheon hosted by Singapore Minister for Culture, Community & Youth Edwin Tong, Miss Mak called on Low Yen-ling, who is the Chairperson of the Mayors’ Committee, Mayor of South West District, and the Minister of State, Ministry of Trade & Industry and Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth.

 

They discussed how Singapore’s community development council consolidates resources, expands networks, strengthens connections among government departments, enterprises, social service agencies, higher education institutions etc to help the needy, connect the community, and build a harmonious society.
 
In addition, Miss Mak visited the Jurong Spring Community Club to view its facilities and services.
 
Meanwhile, YDC youth ambassadors, who are currently on their exchange trip in the city-state, studied state-owned enterprises’ development in Singapore at the Bank of China Singapore Branch, and learnt about local religious and cultural characteristics in Little India.
 
In the afternoon, Miss Mak and the YDC youth ambassadors met Hong Kong youth working in Singapore and shared their life and work experiences.
