P1 admissions to be announced

November 18, 2022

The results of Primary 1 discretionary places for September 2023 will be released on November 21, the Education Bureau announced today.

Out of the 43,755 children applying for discretionary places in government and aided primary schools this year, 21,724 will be offered a place in these schools. Among those who got an offer, 11,790 have siblings studying or parents working at the schools that they have applied for, while the remaining 9,934 are selected according to the Points System.

Parents should bring the parent’s copy of the P1 application and check the results between 9am and 5pm next Monday at the school they have applied for. In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, they may check via the school website or over the phone in case they cannot visit the school in person.

Registration of successful applicant children should be made on November 23 or 24.

The bureau also noted that as the Vaccine Pass arrangement is in force in schools, except for exempted people or those participating in school activities as students, all visitors aged five or above have to present their vaccination record and use the LeaveHomeSafe mobile app to scan the venue QR code before they are allowed to enter school premises. People with a red or amber code, however, cannot enter school premises as visitors.

Separately, the bureau said it will implement the digitalisation of P1 admission in phases starting from 2023. Parents are encouraged to register on the iAM Smart + platform for more convenient services.

If parents have provided an email address in the P1 application and activated their P1 admission e-platform account using iAM Smart +, they may make choices of schools and check the result of the Central Allocation through the platform. Further details will be announced in due course.
