Chief Executive John Lee today said shortening the Composite Waiting Time for Subsidised Rental Housing to around 4.5 years in four years’ time is ambitious but realistic.
Elaborating on the initiatives outlined in his Policy Address at a press conference this afternoon, Mr Lee said the Government will introduce Light Public Housing to address people's concerns about being on the waiting list for public housing for six years.
“We have already identified government sites for 30,000 Light Public Housing units.
“We will be using Modular Integrated Construction and also, we will be doing the building ourselves, so we have control of every part of the scheme.
“And we will be approaching private developers to see whether they also will have sites to lend us.”
