Self-guided tours of reservoir set

October 14, 2022

The Water Supplies Department today announced that three sessions of self-guided tours will be offered free of charge daily at the Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir from October 31 onwards.

Each session of the self-guided tour will last for one hour and can accommodate a maximum of 50 visitors, the department said, adding that the current arrangement of three guided tours per day will remain unchanged.

Starting from 9am on October 17, the self-guided tour to the Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir webpage will be open for booking from October 31 to November 30.

From 9am on the first working day of each month as from November, the booking system of the self-guided tours will display visiting sessions available for booking in the coming two months.

Any reservation that is cancelled will be released immediately for booking again.

Visitors on a self-guided tour may listen to the audio guide by scanning the QR codes of highlight spots to learn about the design and architectural structures of the reservoir as well as the historical development of the fresh water supply system in Kowloon and more. The audio guide file is also available at the dedicated webpage for download.

With the launch of the self-guided tours, the daily receiving capacity of the Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir will increase from around 80 visitors to 230 visitors.

At end of September, about 8,900 visitors had participated in the guided tours to the reservoir.
