The Leisure & Cultural Services Department today announced that the Sham Shui Po Sports Centre will open for public use on September 28.

It is the sixth indoor sports centre in the district and spans 5,570 sq m.

The centre’s multipurpose arena can serve as two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, eight badminton courts or a handball court. It can also be adopted as a venue for community activities with a seating capacity of about 1,000 people.

Other facilities include a table tennis room, a fitness room, a children's play room and three multipurpose activity rooms.

Located at 38 Sham Mong Road, the sports centre is about a 10-minute walk from Exit A1 of the MTR Nam Cheong Station.

It will be open from 7am to 11pm daily, except on the second and fourth Mondays of each month when it will be closed from 9am to 3pm for regular maintenance.

The public can reserve the centre’s fee charging facilities online from September 22.
