Secretary for Environment & Ecology Tse Chin-wan today visited the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department to understand more about its work and challenges.

After meeting the department’s directorate staff, Mr Tse visited the Hong Kong Herbarium to view how the department collects, identifies and curates specimens representative of Hong Kong flora. He also called on the Endangered Species Resource Centre where he was briefed on its operation.

The ecology chief also went to the Vegetable Marketing Organization and the Controlled Environment Hydroponic Research & Development Centre.

The inclusion of the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department in the Environment & Ecology Bureau enables a comprehensive integration of policies and work related to nature and ecology conservation as well as agriculture and fisheries, said Mr Tse, adding that the reorganisation helps strengthen the sustainable development of the agricultural and fisheries industry.
