New govt team appointed
The Central People's Government (CPG) today approved the appointments of principal officials of the sixth-term Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government on the nomination of Chief Executive-elect John Lee.
Mr Lee expressed gratitude to the CPG for accepting and approving the 26 nominations made by him, as well as its trust in and support for him and his governing team.
The three secretaries of departments are Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki, Financial Secretary Paul Chan and Secretary for Justice Paul Lam.
Their three deputies are Deputy Chief Secretary Cheuk Wing-hing, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong and Deputy Secretary for Justice Cheung Kwok-kwan.
The 15 directors of bureaus include Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang, Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Christopher Hui, Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung, Secretary for Environment & Ecology Tse Chin-wan, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Algernon Yau and Secretary for Health Prof Lo Chung-mau.
The appointments of Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn, Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho, Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung, Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin, Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong, Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Alice Mak and Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun were also approved today.
These 21 principal officials appointed under the political appointment system are on non-civil service terms.
Five other principal officials were also appointed today to head the disciplined services, the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and the Audit Commission in the next term of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
They are Commissioner of Police Siu Chak-yee, ICAC Commissioner Woo Ying-ming, Director of Audit Prof Nelson Lam, Director of Immigration Au Ka-wang and Commissioner of Customs & Excise Louise Ho.
In addition, Mr Lee announced the appointment of Carol Yip as Director of the Chief Executive's Office.
