URA head reappointed
The Chief Executive has reappointed Wai Chi-sing as Urban Renewal Authority (URA) Managing Director, and on a selection panel’s recommendation appointed Carolin Fong as an executive director of the URA.
Mr Wai and Ms Fong will serve for three years from June 15 and October 3 respectively.
Welcoming Mr Wai’s reappointment, Secretary for Development Michael Wong said: “With exceptional leadership and a great wealth of professional expertise and experience, Mr Wai has been leading the URA in implementing large scale urban redevelopment plans under the planning-led approach.
“The URA has also undertaken and completed various strategic studies to explore new directions and models to facilitate sustainable urban renewal.
“We look forward to continuing our close working relationship with him to tackle the challenges of urban renewal.”
He also noted that with extensive experience in project management and developing green buildings, Ms Fong will assist the managing director in overseeing the authority’s work on building rehabilitation, acquisition and clearance, works and contracts, and legal matters.
The Government looks forward to working with Ms Fong to inject new ideas and impetus into the URA in order to expedite urban renewal work, Mr Wong added.
