Travel to Admiralty becomes easier

May 3, 2022

The East Rail Line Cross-Harbour Extension will start service on May 15, providing passengers with another travel option for crossing the harbour.

The line will terminate at Admiralty Station which has been upgraded into a mega interchange station, making the Island Line even more accessible.

With the extension, the 46km-long East Rail Line consists of 16 stations including the new Exhibition Centre Station.

Passengers travelling from Sheung Shui to Admiralty change trains twice. Starting from May 15, without having to interchange, their journey will be cut from 55 minutes to around 40 minutes.

Those taking the train from Hung Hom to Admiralty also have to interchange twice. Their travel time will be cut from 19 minutes to around seven minutes.

Smart facilities have also been incorporated on the line, including the “Cross Harbour Easy” system which has been installed at Admiralty Station’s concourse and interchange platform. It provides real-time information on Tsuen Wan Line and East Rail Line train arrivals as well as trip information so passengers can choose the fastest routes.
