HK reports 574 virus cases
The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 574 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 290 were detected by nucleic acid tests and 284 were identified via rapid antigen tests.
Among the new cases, 11 are imported while the rest are locally infected.
A total of 1,188,277 people have contracted the virus since the onset of the fifth wave of the epidemic, involving 9,014 deaths.
Meanwhile, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover Kit Yat House of Yat Tung (II) Estate in Tung Chung, requiring people in the restricted area to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.
Furthermore, due to a number of positive cases, 40 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.
The Government will extend the service period of the mobile specimen collection stations at the basketball court next to Wai Yuen House of Chuk Yuen North Estate in Wong Tai Sin and the volleyball court outside Yam Hing House of Shek Yam East Estate in Kwai Chung to April 24.
Given that there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas of Yuen Long, Kwai Tsing, Kowloon City and Tai Po districts, the respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working in those areas.
