Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip today visited a household at Fortune Estate in Sham Shui Po to view the door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination service provided by a non-governmental organisation.

As the service caters to the elderly and people with disabilities living at home, the bureau said today’s inspection served as preparation for the Government’s Home Vaccination Service that will be launched soon.

By accommodating people with special needs who are unable to go to vaccination venues due to impaired mobility, the door-to-door jab services will help to further increase the vaccination rate among senior citizens, Mr Nip explained.

He said: “The Government will launch a platform soon to enable those in need to register for home vaccination. After collecting and collating their information, we will arrange for outreach medical teams to vaccinate the elderly and people with disabilities who have impaired mobility at their homes.

“At this stage, we will seek district organisations’ assistance in collecting information.”

Furthermore, at a building under a restriction-testing declaration (RTD) operation, the Civil Service Bureau will conduct a trial to register people aged 70 or above who have not yet been vaccinated and those who are unable to leave home for vaccination due to illness or physical disability, and have them arranged for a door-to-door vaccination service the day after the RTD operation.

After consolidating the experience from the trials and streamlining the vaccination workflow, the Government will further expand the services to buildings under RTD operations, Mr Nip added.
