80% occupancy in isolation facility

Staff of the Tsing Yi community isolation facility will distribute suitable supplies to quarantined people according to their needs.
The Security Bureau said that by early today, around 970 rooms in the Tsing Yi community isolation facility (CIF) were occupied by people who are in isolation, representing 80% of the available rooms.
A new mechanism was launched earlier for COVID-19 confirmed patients to contact the Fire Services Department through a dedicated line in order to apply for admission to community isolation facilities.
The bureau noted that the mechanism has gained favourable responses since its launch, with numerous applications received. More patients will be arranged to stay in the Tsing Yi CIF later.
To make those who are quarantined feel at ease in an unfamiliar environment, the bureau will continue to refine its services in the Tsing Yi CIF.
It will actively communicate with occupants by adopting a small-district management and humanised approach, striving to provide appropriate services in response to their comments and needs.
Taking into account the patient's physical condition, appropriate food will be provided. The food supplier will offer four choices of meals with meat and vegetables as well as halal and vegetarian meals every day. Fruit will also be served to the patients.
The cleaning contractor will enhance disinfection and cleaning to ensure better hygiene in toilets and shower compartments, in addition to providing disinfectant hand soap in toilets.
Meanwhile, with great support and kind donations from different sectors including local communities, telecommunication companies and media organisations, several arrangements can be made for people undergoing quarantine in the Tsing Yi CIF.
Such arrangements include the provision of free daily newspapers, while that of other books and magazines is being arranged.
Quarantined people are also allowed to view different online entertainment platforms for free, and toys will be given to children of families under quarantine.
Moreover, 5G network coverage for the facility will be set up through telecommunications companies. Free local data will be provided for quarantined people if needed.
