Children's jab centre added
The Government will set up a Children Community Vaccination Centre (CCVC) at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre from March 4 to provide BioNTech vaccination service to children aged five to 11. Reservations can be made online from 9am tomorrow.
Currently, there are three CCVCs that provide the BioNTech vaccine to children within the five to 11 age range at Children's Hospital in Kowloon Bay, Yuen Chau Kok Sports Centre in Sha Tin and Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong in Wong Chuk Hang.
From March 7, the centres at Children's Hospital and Yuen Chau Kok Sports Centre will extend their opening hours to 8am to 8pm from Monday to Sunday.
Children to be vaccinated have to bring their original identity documents. If the identity document does not bear the child's photo, a school document with the photo must be presented at the time of vaccination.
The child must be accompanied by their parents or guardians to receive the vaccine at the CCVCs as well as bring a signed parental consent form.
Noting that vaccination can give children protection and reduce the risk of serious illness and death from COVID-19 infection, Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip said parents and guardians should arrange for them to get the jab as soon as possible.
“We are preparing for the setting up of additional CVCs dedicated to provide the Sinovac vaccine to children, teenagers and elderly persons,” Mr Nip added.
