Close contacts quarantine hotel set

January 12, 2022

From January 17, Silka Seaview Hotel Hong Kong will be used as a quarantine hotel for close contacts of positive SARS-CoV-2 virus cases, the Government announced today.

Silka Seaview Hotel Hong Kong is currently a designated quarantine hotel (DQH). With immediate effect, it temporarily ceases to be a DQH and stops taking reservations from inbound travellers.

People undergoing quarantine there will be transferred in phases to other DQHs to continue their isolation course in accordance with infection control guidelines.

The Government explained that due to the recent surge in cases, a substantial increase has been seen in the number of close contacts that need to be quarantined.

In addition to the Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre, the Lei Yue Mun Park & Holiday Village as well as three quarantine hotels are now activated. The Government is also making preparations for reopening the Junior Police Call Permanent Activity Centre in Pat Heung and the Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre for receiving close contacts and their household contacts.

Including the 268 units to be provided by Silka Seaview Hotel Hong Kong, there will be altogether around 5,000 units for the quarantine of close contacts.

“We trust that the additional close contact quarantine hotel will help cope with the recent demand for quarantine facilities,” the Government noted.
