The Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau today signed a co-operation arrangement to enable holders of aircraft maintenance licences issued by the authorities in the three places to work at aircraft maintenance organisations there.

On behalf of Hong Kong, Director-General of Civil Aviation Victor Liu signed the Joint Maintenance Management Cooperation Arrangement in Shenzhen today.

It was also signed by Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China Hu Zhenjiang, and President of the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao Chan Weng-hong.

Through mutual acceptance of aircraft maintenance licence holders, the arrangement provides employment opportunities for such licence holders at aircraft maintenance organisations in the three places.

It also marked further co-operation among the three parties to seize the opportunities of the National 14th Five-Year Plan to facilitate efficient personnel flow, expand mutual recognition of professional qualifications and foster development in the Greater Bay Area.

Mr Liu said the co-operation arrangement not only enables Hong Kong aircraft maintenance organisations to tap into a wider aircraft maintenance talent pool, but also offers more career opportunities to the 2,200 Hong Kong aircraft maintenance licence holders and those aspiring to work in the industry.

It will further strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a leading international aviation hub, he added.

The arrangement will further boost the development of the aviation industry in the three places by effectively optimising the sharing of training resources, minimising repetitive audits and facilitating the mobility of aircraft maintenance personnel.
