The Government will sell two residential sites by tender in the July-September quarter that will offer about 200 flats.

Announcing the land sale programme for the second quarter of the 2021-22 financial year today, Secretary for Development Michael Wong said one of the residential sites is in Kowloon Tong and the other is in Yuen Long.

The Mass Transit Railway Corporation also plans to sell by tender a property development project in Tung Chung, capable of providing about 1,600 flats.

Additionally, the Urban Renewal Authority plans to sell by tender a development project at Bailey Street/Wing Kwong Street in To Kwa Wan, which can yield about 1,150 flats.

Four private development and redevelopment projects are expected to have their lease modification process completed in the coming quarter, altogether providing about 2,450 flats.

Mr Wong said: “Taking all sources into account, the total private housing land supply in the second quarter will provide about 5,400 flats, which is a relatively high quarterly figure in recent years.”

Including a supply of 1,650 flats in the first quarter, the total private housing supply in the first half of the financial year will amount to about 7,050 flats, representing over 50% of the annual target, he added.

For commercial land, the two sites in Site 3 of the New Central Harbourfront and Causeway Bay recently put up for sale will provide about 250,000 sq m of commercial gross floor area.

“We do not intend to put up new commercial sites for tender in the second quarter.

“The Government will continue to monitor the market situation and put up commercial sites for sale when appropriate,” Mr Wong noted.

He also said the Government will continue to increase land supply through a multipronged approach to meet the community's housing, economic and social development needs.
