CE tours Art Basel Hong Kong
Chief Executive Carrie Lam today visited the ninth edition of Art Basel Hong Kong at the Convention & Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.
Mrs Lam welcomed the return of the international art fair’s physical version to Hong Kong after it was cancelled last year.
Art Basel Hong Kong displays art pieces from over 100 leading galleries from 23 countries and territories.
The Chief Executive toured the exhibition and received briefings from those in charge of the participating galleries on their works and businesses during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Mrs Lam pointed out that the event, the concurrent French May Arts Festival and the UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup Hong Kong held last week have fully demonstrated the city’s capability of holding major events safely amid the pandemic.
She hoped more extravaganzas would be held in Hong Kong in the future to enrich people’s cultural lives and their love of sports, as well as injecting impetus to the economy.
